The SmartSolar MPPT RS solar charge controllers are Victron’s solution for systems with large solar PV arrays charging 48V DC battery banks, ideal for large off-grid and grid-connected battery systems.

Available in 5.76kW and 11.52kW models, these controllers feature a wide 65-450 VDC operating solar voltage input, independent tracking inputs, full connectivity, isolated PV connections, a display screen, fully programmable battery charging parameters, and active cooling. The new metal case design and fully covered electrical connections enhance safety and modernize the look in line with Victron’s latest products.

Models: 48 Volt

The SmartSolar RS charge controller connects to a PV array with a voltage range of 65 to 450 Voc and efficiently charges your 48V battery bank with either 100A or 200A. The charge settings are fully programmable for different battery chemistries, including lead-acid and lithium.

You can remotely control and configure the SmartSolar RS charge controller over Bluetooth via the VictronConnect app, which provides setup, management, and real-time information such as battery voltage and current, PV voltage and current, historical data, and trends.

Equipped with VE.Can bus ports, the SmartSolar RS allows communication with additional SmartSolar RS & VE.Can MPPT units. These units can be “daisy-chained” using an RJ45 cable to synchronize their charge stages and send data to a GX device (like the Cerbo GX MK2) for monitoring. If the GX device is connected to the internet, the Victron Remote Management Portal (VRM) offers full access to your SmartSolar RS charge controllers anytime, anywhere, for free. For remote installations without nearby internet, you can monitor your MPPT by connecting the GlobalLink 520.

The SmartSolar RS charge controller has a front panel display that shows battery voltage, charge current, and voltages from both arrays, including instantaneous and total figures, and unit status with possible error codes. It also includes a programmable relay and options for remote temperature and voltage sensing. The remote input can accept the Victron smallBMS and other types of BMS with allow-to-charge signals.

Use pre-assembled PV cables with male/female MC4 connectors for a safe and neat solar power setup. Use MC4 branch connectors to connect two strings of solar panels in parallel.
